Sailing for Children
Sailing for ChildrenThe Access 2.3 Sailing dinghy is so simple, the easiest dinghy to sail by far. Simple joystick steering, pushing it left to go left and right to go right. (You may be aware that it is the opposite for conventional tiller controlled dinghies, which is quite difficult for a child to grasp). The sail is reefable down to less than 1sq mtr for sailing and being unbatterned can be fully reefed for beaching or towing. Reefing is achieved by the simple operation of pulling on a continuous line that operates a reefing drum in the foot of the mast. Very light loads on both the tiller and mainsheet making the controls well within the bounds of children. The boom is high keeping it well away from the head. The 15kg weighted keel makes the boat uncapsizable. The child sits in a low slung hammock seat with no need to hike out which makes it very safe for children as young as 5 or 6 years old. The boat, mast and launching trolley can be easily transported on standard car roof bars. All ages can easily sail this boat from children to elderly grandparents making it an ideal family boat This boat has been chosen as a primary and secondary school sports boat.
